The driver of the passenger train, who hit a huge fireplace of 50 tons in the gorge of Kresna on Monday night, is a 45-year old Dimitar Hristov. Four years ago, December 11, 2014, he saved nearly 100 passengers after the train he was running struck a TIR burner near Mursalev, and was also fired, submitted by dir.bg.

After the accident, the driver was among the winners of the "24 Hour" initiative – "Vali Bulgarians", and was awarded by the then Minister of Transport, Ivaylo Moskovsky.
