Qualcomm did not actually introduce a new top-of-the-line chipset (a Snapdragon 865 can pass months before arrival, but just like last year for the Snapdragon 845, this year will also release its version of the Snapdragon 855, which now has the Plus suffix. High quality silicone inserts allow Qualcomm to accelerate the high-speed Kryo 485 Gold processor from 2.84 GHz to 2.96 GHz. The other three Kryo 485 Gold seeds remain at 2.42 GHz and four Kryo 485 Silver seeds at 1.8 GHz.
The graphics accelerator Adreno 640 also moves forward: here, from 585 to 672 MHz, the semiconductor giant increases the clock speed. Last year, the Asus ROG toy phone was one of the snapdragon versions of the Snapdragon 845, and we are still on time to get the ROG 2 855 strongest packages – that's July 23. The mobile platform Snapdragon 855 Plus, which remains on the 7nm TSMC node, can be used by many other smartphones by the end of the year.
