Today, events are held in the country marking the National Day of Commemoration.
President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar attend a state event at Kolins's Dublin barracks.
The National Day of Commemoration is held in honor of all Irish men and women who were killed in past wars or in the service of the United Nations.
Members of the Government will join the State Council, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the judiciary and veterans' organizations.
The relatives of those who died in previous conflicts were also invited.
Other events are held in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Sligo, Kilkenny and Waterford.
All events started at 11 am and are open to the public.
