KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) unanimously agreed to submit a report on the return of taxes paid by taxes on goods and services (GST) in the amount of 19.4 billion RM, one day earlier than planned.
Her president, Norahi Ahmad, said that this was done to avoid further speculation about the report.
"After being submitted to Dewan Rakyat, members of the public can get the report by downloading it from the parliamentary PAC website at www.parlimen.gov.my/pac the same day it was submitted," she said in a statement today.
On Wednesday, the PAC said the report would be submitted to Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday after his report was unanimously finalized by his 13 members at a meeting to verify the PAC report.
The commission needed 11 months, beginning on August 15, 2018, to complete the report after 10 meetings.
In August last year, finance minister Lim Guan Eng said the previous government failed to pay the GST of 19.4 billion RM of GST return after its implementation in April 2015, until May 31, 2018.
He claimed that only 1.49 billion RM in the repayment fund remained.
