Summit talks begin on Monday. Delegations from 195 countries are coming to Katowice, signed in 2015 by the Paris Agreement. Its goal is to stop the global temperature rise so that the world will escape from a climate catastrophe that threatens us with the emissions of greenhouse gases that come in 80 percent. from combustion of fossil fuels. In the meantime, the summit chosen by the Government of PiS is among the main emitters of carbon dioxide, methane, sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carcinogenic benzene in Poland. These are Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, Tauron, Polska Group Energetyczna and PGNiG.

Among partners, the biggest polluter in Europe

Only the Jaworzno plant belonging to the Tauron Group releases 6 million tonnes of CO2 per year into the atmosphere. Thermal power plant Łaziska (also Tauron) – 4 million tons of CO2. This is not much compared to the largest pollutant in Europe – the PGE-owned Bełchatów power plant, which also connects the summit, and at the same time emits almost 40 million tons of carbon dioxide and 3 tons live a year.
