The average brain MRI lasts between 15 and 90 minutes, but scientists from The General Hospital in Massachusetts, USA, carried out a 100-hour scan, which showed that the human brain is as detailed as possible.
The results of this scan can be a very valuable tool in studying the state of comatosis, depression and many other problems.
The brain, which was scanned, belonged to a 58-year-old woman who died three years ago from pneumonia and did not have any neurological problems. To scan the brain, scientists first had to make a special case that could keep the brain in place and prevent it from moving under the influence of magnetic waves.
If the brain belonged to a living person, experts would not be able to get such detailed images, as each movement (even breathing and circulation) would interfere.
For scanning, the experts used a very powerful machine. with tension field 7 Tesla (in most of the hospitals it uses 3 Tesla devices).
Scans, which lasted more than 4 days, showed all parts of the brain to the smallest detail, including the amygdala, which is nothing more than an almond and deep in the brain.
Many problems, including increased anxiety, autism, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder and phobia, according to experts, may be associated with a damaged tonal function.
Experts emphasize that they have never seen such detailed brain images before and are ready to prepare for using the scans obtained for the study of brain health.
