Suburban inns are increasingly becoming picnics.
People prefer to drive a few kilometers from Ljubljana, where they combine lunches or dinners with short or long trips, and even sleep after dinner. Those who used to hop on the butt or in the outskirts of the capital for a business lunch, but now prefer to stay downtown, where there is no problem with transportation if the eater accidentally drinks something else.
In short, inns around Ljubljana are taking on a new role, they may no longer visit them en masse, but are developing in a different way, and projects are no longer necessarily tied to the Slovenian trio of beef soup / piece of meat / apple pastry. Now in the kitchen they travel from organic to extreme, copyrighted cuisine, through interesting wine lists to Italian flavors.
1. (2.) Pension Gric (Sentjošt nad Horjul)
With its view of contemporary cuisine, acidic acids, drying, smoking and fermenting ingredients, Luka Košir is one step ahead of the competition in the Ljubljana area, actually in the Slovenian top. But let's not be afraid that the food is too exotic – a great list of food on Grič emphasizes home-made meat, fish, vegetables and fruits. For tasting you will spend about 50 euros per person, the offer of wine and spirits is solid, but Šentjošt also adores culinary tourists, mountaineers, cyclists and winter riders.

2. (1.) Inn Skaručna (Skaručna)
For 98 euros, the unforgettable Slavc Žagar will offer you the longest serving of your meals (four cold appetizers, four soups, two warm entrees, two main courses, three desserts). Food – once another plate is probably on the agenda – is best associated with organic, natural or orange wines. Of course, there is something less extreme, like champagne or a glass of cviček, to say nothing of the sweet brandy waiting at the bar.

3. (3.) Kirn Inn (Lake)
The legendary inn on the Ljubljana Mars does not change much. They are open only on weekends, other days only with reservations, and continue to offer seasonal dishes under the pen of the home cook. The dishes, which have their roots in the prestigious Ljubljana cuisine, follow the expensive innovations the owner finds in Slovenian winemakers. You will eat about $ 30 per person bravely in places where the greatest European politicians once ate.

4. (-) Evergreen
The restaurant at the golf center, which caters primarily to the hunger of athletes, has recently advanced. The list of dishes is interesting enough, though they are mostly dishes that help tired athletes regain their lost energy. At the same time, the new chef is offering a tasting that costs 85 euros in the longest version. For the champions who want to toast after a sports fight, they have plenty of sparkling wines, including champagne, otherwise it is the largest in all Kavalica outlets.

5. (4.) Inn Čubr (Križ pri Komenda)
The Market in Križ near Komenda is home to one of the oldest business inns in our country. They say they have been cooking since 1934. In addition to the relatively well-established dishes of Slovenian cuisine, they also prepare for you 35 American dishes with six courses and a cuisine salute. They also have a serious vegan offer and a wine list where all our favorite and best world wines can be found.

6. (5.) Inn Kovac (Tomacevo)
With Kovacs there is only a tavern, and that is good. Faithful traditions offer nothing new, but the classics they cook are great, whether it's soups, steaks, horse steaks or fish. The main guests are still established businessmen, and the prices are surprisingly moderate. In addition to the relatively predictable food offering, the wine offering offers several small surprises that are consistently complementary. Have about $ 35 per person for food.

7. (6th) Dead d & # 39; Ampezzo (Name)
One of the most enjoyable inns in Ljubljana, in the hills just before Moravac, where a chef in Piedmont prepares Italian specialties. Baguna cauda, kalama in spicy tomato sauce with capers, lots of pasta, Florentine … Summer view of the valley is especially pleasant, the wine list is solid, Italian from Slovenian, and the price of food is about 40 euros per person.

8. (7.) Restaurant Repnik (Kamnik)
The rapper cooks delicious homemade food at weddings in his garden, catering and many sports activities. The excess supply is probably the most orthodox offer of stone flavors, as they were called years ago by the local cuisine of these places. At Repnik, where you are also guided by a stroller, you can quickly eat simple snacks and lunches, and for tired eats and tourists have rooms.

9. (8.) Trnulja Estate (Black Village)
The large organic farm in Barje has changed its opening hours a little, which means they are open not only on weekends but also on Fridays. Occupation in the kitchen is also refreshed, while the concept of highly organic food, where most of the ingredients are grown on their own land or help to buy from the nearest organic food producers, remains unchanged. Even the wines – the map is surprisingly extensive – are organic. Lunch costs a good $ 25, and if you eat to order, another dozen.

10. (9.) Pr & # 39; Kopač (Brezovica) Inn
We will not be wrong to say that Kopač is the most dominant inn in the Ljubljana area. A classic without great philosophy. The main roles include beef soup, fried meat, pastries and the like. They rarely make the news, but the truth is that they have recently improved their wine offer. They are still one of the cheapest blades in your field, and you get a lot for $ 20.
